Kitende based side Vipers SC are the current season’s champions after thrashing former champions Express FC 3-0.

Vipers clinched the 2021-22 season trophy after their recent win against last season’s champions, Express.

Sharpshooter Yunus Ssentamu scored a first half brace before midfielder Bright Anukani added a third in the second half

Ssentamu scored in the 25th minute through a Hilary Mukundane cross. The two again linked up in the 34th minute to give Vipers firm control of the game.

Express saw more misery piled onto them in the 60th minute as Bright Anukani’s shot deflected into the back of the net.

This became Vipers 5th league title. They therefore overtook URA FC becoming the fourth most successful club in the Ugandan Premier League.

Sc Villa at 16 league titles is the most success club in the UPL followed by KCCA by KCCA at 13 and Express at 7.

Vipers won the league with 4 games to go as their closes rivals KCCA faltered along the way.

Roberto Oliveira’s side also has a chance to break their own record of most points in the league set in 2015 where they won the league with 69 points.

They now sit on 64 points as they only need 5 points from the remaining 12.

Vipers also now have plenty of time to concentrate on the Stanbic Uganda Cup where they are in the semis alongside Booma, BUL FC and Mbarara City.
