Manchester United won their first trophy under Dutch manager, Erik Ten Hag after they beat Newcastle 2-0 in the finals of the Carabao cup at Wembley.

This was the Red Devils first trophy since 2017 after Jose Mourinho’s Europa League triumph.

The club and supporters will just take delight in winning the trophy since the prize money is as little as £100,000.

Newcastle who had last appeared in a final in 1999 which they also lost being the FA Cup pocketed £50,000.

This money is too small that it can barely cover the wages of the highest paid player at the respective clubs.

But with 87,306 fans watching the game at Wembley, the clubs surely earned from ticket sales.

For Southampton and Nottingham Forest who played in the semi finals, they got £25,000 each.

The other participants didn’t pick up a single penny besides gate collections.

Manchester United now to turn their attention to the FA Cup as they host West Ham United in the 5th round.

The Red Devils are also in the third place on the English Premier League table 8 points adrift of top spot occupied by Arsenal.

Erik Ten Hag’s side was also drawn against Spanish side Real Betis in the round of 16 in the Europa League.

Nostalgia is really high amongst United fans as they are already dreaming of a quadruple.
